About Us

They say it’s the fastest game on two feet. (If you haven’t yet watched a WLL game, you should! And we can’t wait for 2028 in LA.) But beyond fast, lacrosse is a ton of fun and inclusive.

It’s okay if you’ve never touched a stick before. Pretty much no one around here has until that first practice. So it takes a little bit of courage, and some patience and grit, too. All of which helps our players grow into leaders on and off the field.

It’s competitive, but it’s still a rec sport. There are no tryouts. Everyone makes the team and learns. That said, roster limits are possible. It’s still a growing sport. Coaches (and refs) can be difficult to find. Sign up as soon as you can!

Outside of BIGLA, there are select/elite clubs playing year-round, and many BIGLA players participate and thrive at those levels. But one beautiful thing about lacrosse is that, unlike some other sports, all clubs nationwide take a break each spring. Which means that families can focus on building community and resilience, instead of trying to manage the anxieties of modern youth sports. We fully support multi-sport athletes!

Other positive aspects to the game includes the fact that it’s a relatively quick season with limited travel. And since we don’t live in a lacrosse “hotbed,” there’s not as much sideline stress - we’re all learning the game and its rules together!

BIGLA is a 100% volunteer-run organization, from kinder all the way up through high school (not yet recognized the WIAA!). We are supported through fundraisers, merch sales, and generous sponsorships. And we are fortunate to have a rich, 40-year lacrosse tradition on Bainbridge. We’d love for you to join us. Go Big Blue!
